🤔 What is Makan Rescue?
Makan Rescue is a mobile application that notifies users when there are free food or food surpluses nearby, that they can claim. The app will also allow users to notify others of available food surpluses.
🤓 Who are the people behind this app?
Click Order button next to the service you want to purchase and leave your contacts in a follow-up form. We will get in touch with you shortly to clarify all the details.
👥 There are Telegram groups for this. How will this be different?
We are aware that there are Telegram groups on this topic. We love them!😍
However, we noticed that most of our friends ended up muting the group because they keep on receiving messages that are not relevant to them:
- location of the food is far from where there were
- the food posted is not suitable for their dietary preferences
- spam messages of non-related events
We also know people who are not comfortable to join the group because they are uncomfortable of their contact details being exposed to everyone else in the group.
We plan to solve these limitations with this Makan Rescue app.🏫 Why is the app launched to NUS, NTU and SMU students and staff first?
Firstly, launching our first version to a smaller group will allow us to learn and improve the app more effectively. Once we have fixed major bugs and ensure the app is working well, we'll launch it to the public!
Secondly, our team is made up of students from NUS and SMU. We are hungry students ourselves who will be users of the app ourselves (free food!)😆. Launching in our campuses first makes it easier for us to test the app, get feedback and make improvements to the app.🏫 I am not from NUS, NTU or SMU. Should I download still?
Yes, definitely! Because, after we have launched to the community at NUS, NTU and SMU, we're going to launch it to the larger community. If you're already registered, we will notify you of it first! 😊
